The low-back is one of our specialist areas. Low back pain is a very common complaint and one of the things we treat most frequently. Pain in the low back can occur because of the way the area is loaded through day-to-day use and/or posture, or it can come on after a traumatic injury. The pain can be local or can be referred to the buttock and down the leg (sciatica). If the nerves are involved you might have pins and needles, weakness and/or areas of numbness.
Pelvic pain resulting from pregnancy is one of our specialist interests. Research tells us that troublesome pregnancy-related pain is due to the sacroiliac joints (which joint the spine to the pelvis) or the pubis. There is a common misconception that nothing can be done until after the birth of the baby. There is no need to suffer till then – treatment can very often ease the pain quickly and reduce the chances of the problem persisting.
